Running Through the Corn
I didn’t know if I would write and record any more music after I finished Rae, she…. I felt that I had done what I needed to do and so returned to studying guitar with the intent of trying to improve at least a little bit. Soon I found myself interested in piano once more, my abilities as a player completely lost. Then I took an interest in the recorder. I dug around looking for Rae’s flute. I began to write again. I also worked to improve my skills in recording and producing the music. I know it’s a cliche, but Running Through the Corn is an album about life and spirit. I feel somewhat sad for my coastal friends and colleagues who still see the middle of the US as “flyover” country. People who have never ventured through the deserts of New Mexico, for example. Taken slowly and seriously, that land has the potential to seriously change you. I cannot walk thorough it without feeling intense moments of wonder and awe. But more about that later.
